My week in the Windy City

My week in the Windy City was a very strange and exciting combination of culture, thrill and education.

The things I expierienced during my time in the Second City:

1. People are kind: Never thought you would find that now a days. Everyone we met was extremly helpful, encouraging and nice that it was so hard to believe. When a question was asked concerning where a monument was or where a good place to eat would be, they all made sure that we did not leave confused or without information. Very refreshing.

2. Amazing Food: All restaurants are taken such good care of and there is such a variety throughout the city. Whether Asian, Italian, Indian, or American, everything was extremly delicious and you could not find the same thing at each restaurant. I enjoyed an amazing combination of flavors each time I ate that I don't think I will expierience it ever again.

3. Amazing Architecture: From Sears tower, to the many parks, to the stacked brickhouse apartment buildings, every thing in Chicago is made big. Not only is each section of town equally beautiful, they each have their own culture. You can go into different worlds in China Town, Little Italy, Greece, and North and South side.

4. People are very open with their sexuality: I won't go into much detail but no one is afraid of the way that others might think of them. Hell, their is even their own gay section of town. Very interesting is all I have to say.

At the movies

Even though this is a wrestling based blog, I decided to step into something I have never done before. Movie review.

Night at the Museum 2: Fans of the first movie will definetly enjoy this sequel for the normal "Ben Stiller" comedy as well as from the new charachters. My one gripe however is the lack of Robin Williams. If only he could have had more speaking parts. However, it is still a movie to see.

Dance Flick: This movie is a great example of a disease known as Movie Preview Syndrome. Not one seen from this movie besides the closing seen was not shown at some point in the previews. Not even the Wayans Brothers could make this enjoyable.

Land of The Lost: Fans of the original series will be stunningly pleased with the way it is portrayed on the big screen. Will Ferrell provides a different form from his usual lude and crude based comedy. Chaka is also greatly updated for the modern day version.

Gran Torino: The story will both sadden and warm the hearts of many. Clint Eastwood's role is played perfectly with a series of warm hearted and intersting charachters to share the pot with him. His short minded but lovable comments towards other races provide good comic relief to this true story of triumph over tragedy.

ROH Fantasy Project: The Champions

It is time to announce the men and woman that will be the first to hold the championships in my Ring of Honor.

For the first ever ROH Womens Championship, because of her labor and hard work spent over the past months as the Shimmer Womens Champion we at Ring Of Honor award MsChif as the first ever ROH Womens Champion, as she will have to defend that championship against a smatering of female contenders.

ROH has prided itself on its great tag team wrestling and no team is greater than the former and new champions Kevin Steen and El Generico.

And now for the ROH World Championship. The current champion of ROH has shown pride and passion and it is an honor to rereward him the championship. The Ring of Honor World Champion is Nigel McGuinness.

As for the Ring of Honor Pure Championship we decided to find the true man to hold the championship. To find that one man we will be holding a 16 man tournament to determine the new Pure Champion. Brackets and participants will be up on Saturday and there will be a single show dedicated to this tournament to prove the man who is truly a pure champion.

My problem with Wrestlemania

In the early days of the 80's we would see some of the most long and intense wrestling feuds calmenate at the biggest show of the year. From Hogan and Savage, to Austin and Hart, Hogan and Andre, and Roddy Piper and Mr.T. However, now a days Wrestlemania has focused to much on the matches and not on what is behind them.

Take the match between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels coming up. Sure these guys are two icons and big stars but there is absolutely no story behind it. What WWE needed to do is extend Michaels feud with JBL to Mania in some form of hardcore match. In the case of Taker, the whole situation could have been solved in the match between HBK and Koslov on Raw. MY solution would be JBL costing Michaels the match, keeping Koslov's streak and allowing Koslov to face Taker. This would make more sense because of the match between Taker and Koslov on Smackdown that Koslov won. Taker's Mania matches used to have a story, examples are matches with Sid, Kane, Ric Flair, but now they are just matches.

Wrestlemania needs to go back to the ways of the earlier days where these shows we're live changing and had significant value on the viewers. Even though Mania is going nowhere from being a disaster, this simple change can compel Wrestlemania to truly be the grandaddy of them all.
